For all you data lovers out there, here are some of the hand breakdowns for my sessions this holiday weekend. The sessions went well and would have been winners each and every time if I didn’t lose a few big pots.
My game is solid, I pick up pots pretty often when I stay past the flop, but I definitely made a couple calls that cost me my profitability on some big pots. That’s a leak I’m working on fixing, as it is a very expensive one. 🙂
The first session was pretty rocky, but the second and third were solid save those big losses. All in all, I’m even for the weekend, and I’ve identified and addressed a big issue in my play, so I’m calling it a win!

I am a data hound, but not a poker player. Is there a primer you can provide that simply explains the flop, turn, river and showdown stages of a hand?
Sure Wilma – every player is dealt two cards face down. These are known as their pocket or hole cards. There is a round of betting, then three community cards are dealt face up on the board. This is called the flop. There’s another round of betting. Next, a fourth card, known as the turn, is dealt face up on the board. Another round of betting ensues. Then the final card is dealt face up on the board. This card is known as the river, and the final bets are made. Players play their best five cards, including the hole cards, or not. Hope this helps!
Lots of room left for the unpredictable and lady luck!
